In
M3 W1 every year, your Y3 students will undertake a placement test,
which determines whether they will succeed in their chosen career path
or not. Careers become available as students use facilities. Higher int
students have a greater chance of unlocking new career paths when they
use facilities. On the first page of the student window, you can see
their career path at bottom, as well as their chance of success. Not all
careers are related to the grades of a student, and even students with a
500 grade average can have only an 86% chance of succeeding in their
chosen career.
Some
students may not have a chosen career path when the time comes for the
placement test. In these cases, the student will graduate as a Part –
Timer, which is the worst available job to any student. To counteract
this, an item called a Career Book is available to let you choose a
career path for these students before the placement test. More
information on the Career Book will be given in the Items section.
There
are two reasons for choosing specific careers for your students to
graduate as. Firstly, after the results of the placement test are
released, your school will receive 3% of the total income of all of your
graduating students as a bonus. Thus, having a student graduate in Int
Design, which is a $200K job, will result in a $6K bonus for just that
one student. This bonus can add up very quickly, especially when you get
to later years and have several classes of graduating students. The
second reason is that by having students graduate in specific jobs,
special facilities can be unlocked for research.
